Sun Glitters is the result after many years of sound research through different genres under the moniker Sug(r)cane since 1998.
Sun Glitters sound is an ocean of lush melodies, pitch-shifted vocal samples, ghostly digi-diva choirs, warm bass melodies driven by alternately dense and relaxing beatwork combinations between downtempo and wonky beats.
Here is a short interview I did with my new friend Victor. This interview gives you an insight into his creative process and gives you an idea of what to expect from him in the future.
How it all started:
I played in several rock bands before as a bass guitar player.
The interest for electronic music came later when I discovered bands like Portishead, Third Eye Foundation and Boards of Canada.
I also found interesting the way you can produce songs anywhere at anytime!
Genre-wise how would you describe yourself?
I don’t really like to categorize my music! So I prefer the music talks by itself!
How has your music changed since sug(r)cane. and why change your name?
Not that much. The difference is the way I think and proceed to achieve a song by trying to keep that specific sound who will define my music.
Sun Glitters is simply a new project in which I want to explore new horizons…
Do you feel your way of making music has changed since you’ first started?
In the past I used a lot my guitar as main instrument for creating all my soundscapes and the way it changed from the start is that I use more soft than hardware like Reaktor and some Ableton Live intern instruments.
So I been listening to your latest release “Everything Could Be Fine” and I am a huge fan of its sound. Could you tell me what inspired you to make such a beautiful record.
I’m glad you like it! My everyday is definitely the main source of inspiration!
Where do you see yourself in three years? Touring, Albums, Collaborations etc…
Interview Sun Glitters again in 3 years and I hope I can tell you a lot about all my concerts, collaborations and albums… :)
Tell us about your software + hardware that you use to create your music:
As mentioned earlier, the main tools are Ableton Live and Reaktor. I like to keep it simple, something where I can produce an idea quickly.
What can you tell us about your music creation process. Do you draw from life experiences or do you start with a theme and go from there?
I have no real process! But the most of time it starts from a simple melody sample…
If you could collaborate with any other musician, who would it be?
I’m already collaborating with wonderful people and some are planed for the future. But I would love to collaborate with Kevin Shields or Robert Smith.
